BeyondMattrix: A Growing Presence in Berlin’s BJJ Landscape

A Powerful Beginning to 2026: FLINTA* Seminar with Charlotte von Baumgarten and Open Mat at Fightzone

BeyondMattrix had a powerful start into 2026 with a FLINTA* Day at Fightzone Berlin featuring a Gi seminar by multiple medalist Charlotte von Baumgarten followed by a community Open Mat.

A total of 27 participants attended the seminar, with approximately 30 people joining the Open Mat afterwards to train and roll together. Practitioners from different gyms and experience levels came together to exchange knowledge, connect with one another, and continue strengthening Berlin’s growing FLINTA* BJJ community.

During the seminar, Charlotte von Baumgarten taught a series of highly effective techniques while placing a strong emphasis on detail, precision, and conceptual understanding. With approximately 20 years of BJJ experience and extensive teaching experience, she created a learning environment that was both technically rich and accessible to practitioners of different levels.

One of the most beautiful aspects of the event was once again the atmosphere on and off the mats. Newcomers, hobby practitioners, competitors, and complete beginners trained side by side in a supportive and encouraging environment. BeyondMattrix continues to see new people joining these FLINTA*-only events to get their first impression of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in a space that feels safer and more welcoming.

The Open Mat after the seminar gave participants additional time to roll, connect, and exchange perspectives about training and community. With every event, BeyondMattrix continues to grow into an increasingly connected network of FLINTA* practitioners across Berlin.

You can find video interviews with some of the participants on Instagram, where they share their impressions of the seminar, the Open Mat, and the importance of FLINTA*-centered training spaces within Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
